On December 5, Judge Nadezhda Prokofyeva of the Pskov City Court reviewed — behind closed doors — a motion submitted by investigator Dmitry Vasilyev of the Pskov regional Interior Ministry to place Lev Shlosberg, deputy chair of the Yabloko party, in custody. The request was granted after a six-hour hearing.
On December 3, shortly before the expiration of his house arrest, investigator Vasilyev opened a new criminal case under Article 207.3, Part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code (“so-called military disinformation”) over a Telegram repost from February 2022. On December 4, Shlosberg was formally charged. Notably, this article was introduced into the Criminal Code only in March 2022.
Shlosberg denies all charges. He is represented by attorney Vladimir Danilov.
This is the third criminal case initiated against him since October 2024. In the first — the so-called “lost plates” case — on November 5, magistrate judge Elena Smirnova (Pskov judicial district No. 38) found Shlosberg guilty of failing to comply with “foreign agent” requirements and sentenced him to 420 hours of mandatory labor. The decision is being appealed in the Pskov City Court.
Since June 11, Shlosberg had been under house arrest in another case alleging repeated “discrediting of the army” due to an Odnoklassniki post containing a recording of his debate with historian Yuri Pivovarov, during which he advocated for an immediate ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Investigators attribute to him statements made by Pivovarov. This case, also handled by investigator Vasilyev, remains ongoing.
Shlosberg’s principled stance is to endure all challenges while remaining a Russian politician in Russia.
