We have repeatedly reported on crimes committed against Russian citizens who went to war voluntarily or almost voluntarily. However, this is far from always the case. Very often, yesterday’s schoolchildren — young men who have barely reached legal adulthood and ended up in compulsory military service — are forced to sign contracts through beatings, pressure, and torture, effectively sending themselves to war. According to relatives of servicemen, this practice is widespread in certain military units. One conscript’s mother claims that after unsuccessfully trying to get a response within the military system, she faced insults and accusations of lying — and was ultimately forced to appeal directly to the commander-in-chief.

‼️ “My son called me and said he was beaten in a supply room <…> They forced him to sign a contract.”

Tatyana is the mother of conscript Oleg Mikhailovich Kostin, born on August 12, 2006, from Lesozavodsk in Russia’s Primorsky Krai. He is performing compulsory military service in military unit No. 98561 in Komsomolsk-on-Amur (source: https://t.me/ne_zhdi_novosti/3711). According to his mother, her son was beaten in order to force him to sign a contract. She claims that Captain Jimuratov, Captain Shishkin, and Senior Warrant Officer Mamedov were involved.

According to Tatyana, after the beating her son managed to call her and describe what had happened. She then contacted the battalion commander, Lieutenant Colonel V. L. Chuzhinov, asking him to look into the situation. She claims that he accused her of lying and ignored her appeal.

Shortly afterward, according to the mother, the serviceman’s phone was confiscated. He is now only able to contact his relatives in the presence of unit commanders.

Tatyana states that it is unsafe for her son to remain in military unit No. 98561 and has appealed to the President to terminate the contract and transfer Oleg to another military unit in Primorsky Krai.

“Vladimir Vladimirovich, terrible things are happening in this unit. Conscripts are simply beaten and abused. They even sign contracts in toilets. Everyone is afraid to speak out. There are witnesses. There is evidence. Vladimir Vladimirovich, please help. Save the children.”
