Even soldiers caught up in the conscription system—whom the regime drafts into mandatory service and then, through torture, humiliation, and beatings, forces to sign a contract and thereby go to war—choose instant death by their own hand rather than go against a brotherly people. And judging by the eyewitness account in this video address, this has a массовый character. Naturally, the military unit bears no consequences for these массовый suicides: “Their conscripts jump out of windows and, well, die—and nobody is held accountable. And the way they’re forced to sign contracts is basically through beatings.”

Former serviceman Igor Shchetko (https://t.me/ne_zhdi_novosti/4515) spoke about how conscript soldiers are driven to suicide at the 473rd District Training Center (military unit 31612 — https://t.me/ne_zhdi_novosti/1937) in the settlement of Yelansky, Sverdlovsk region. According to him, conscripts are pressured by every possible means to sign a contract (https://t.me/ne_zhdi_novosti/4786), and those who cannot withstand the pressure take their own lives.

Igor noted that out of all possible places to serve compulsory military service, the training center in Yelansky is the worst option. It is known not only for suicides among conscripts, but also for regular extortion of money from soldiers by commanders. “If they’re sent to Elan, then it’s extremely, extremely bad—the situation there is like that.”
