Earlier, we already wrote about a serviceman who had been raped and who refused to give false testimony against his fellow soldiers. Now this story has continued. Whether this development was inevitable or not is for you to decide. But this, apparently, is what the price of publicity looks like in the Russian Federation.

The video appeal to the President of the Russian Federation unexpectedly produced results — just not the ones that had been expected.

The serviceman in question is Alexey Olegovich Fomenko, born on May 19, 2005, a serviceman of the 7th Military Base, military unit 09332. After information was made public about alleged criminal acts committed by members of the military police platoon of the 77th Separate Motor Rifle Regiment, military unit 03387, the pressure, judging by the published materials, shifted onto Alexey himself.

Alexey was caught by the same people he had accused, and they began demanding that he record a retraction. According to the published information, in order to force him to do so, they even tied him to a tree.

Eventually, the very video containing the “retraction” appeared, in which Alexey says that he did not intend to discredit the Armed Forces, that he had recorded his previous videos under the influence of other servicemen, and that he had simply been angry at everyone.

It is particularly noteworthy that, according to the published information, the video containing the retraction was sent to the chat by Gazimagomed Gitinmagomedov himself — a man who had previously been accused of committing acts of sexual violence against Alexey. The authors of the publication therefore regard this as confirmation of his involvement in the appearance of the video.

But what happened next is even more disturbing.

After all these videos, Alexey managed to record a personal video message:

“They took my phone away. Now they are going to tie me to a tree.”

And how all of this will end, we may perhaps never know.

The 77th Separate Motor Rifle Regiment is part of the 7th Military Base, military unit 09332, of the 49th Combined Arms Army, military unit 35181.

And if the published information is accurate, then this is what the real “work” of military police officers in dealing with violations looks like: instead of investigating a serviceman’s allegations, they force the person who made them to withdraw his own words and record the retraction they need.

Now Alexey and his fellow servicemen can only hope that the military prosecutor’s office will finally pay attention to what is happening and provide a legal assessment of the actions of Rasul Gadzhiev, Gazimagomed Gitinmagomedov, and other individuals whom the authors of the publication identify as being involved.

This is the price of trying to obtain justice, the price of appealing to the President, and perhaps the price of publicity itself in the Russian Federation.
