Dmitry Viktorovich Borontov returned from the war in Ukraine almost completely drained. He has no right leg below the knee. His left leg is severely damaged. His right arm is broken. Out of all his limbs, only his left arm functions properly.
He cannot work. He cannot live a full life. But the “Motherland,” for which he believed he had “given everything,” denied him payments and pensions. Civil officials send him to the military, the military sends him back to civilian offices. He is being passed around in circles like something worthless.
And yet Vladimir Putin personally awarded him a medal. But the medal turned out to be just a piece of metal. It does not heal, does not feed, and does not protect from humiliation in offices.
The most troubling part is that Borontov seems not to have fully realized whom he trusted. At the same time, he knows that people like him are “zeroed out,” but he hoped he had avoided that fate. After returning, he realized: he was “zeroed out” — financially.
In this sense, he is “lucky”: he has simply been abandoned. Not finished off. Not sent back to die for чужие palaces, чужая power, and чужие lies.
He trusted Putin. He believed in words about the Motherland, honor, and duty. What he received instead was disability, refusals, indifference, and bureaucratic neglect.
This is the real price of such promises: first you are used as expendable material, you may even be awarded, and then you are forgotten. In the best case. Others are simply not allowed to leave the front until they are completely “zeroed out.”
You can find more details of this situation below:
“I served, the president personally awarded me a medal. So I didn’t fight, or what? I didn’t defend my Motherland? This is insane, what are you doing?”
Participant of the “special military operation,” Borontov Dmitry Viktorovich (born May 9, 1980), recorded an appeal in which he described how, after a severe combat injury, he was left without a pension and payments.
The serviceman received a serious injury in 2022 while carrying out a combat mission. As a result — amputation of the left leg above the knee, the right leg reconstructed with metal structures with a bone deficit of about five centimeters, and a broken right arm. In practice, he cannot work.
Previously, Borontov received a military pension. However, after undergoing a repeat medical and social examination (MSE), he was assigned a disability status with the wording “military injury,” after which the payments suddenly stopped.
“Go apply for a civilian one. I go to civilian — they tell me to go to the military office. The military office sends me back: we will not pay you anything. The pension fund says: we won’t pay you either.”
Dmitry has a full set of documents from the Ministry of Defense confirming that he was injured while performing a combat mission. He also reported that he has not received any payments, including disability benefits, for seven months.
“It turns out they ‘zero us out’ not only on the front line — they ‘zero us out’ here too. Just erase us.”
The veteran is appealing to the relevant authorities, asking them to intervene and resolve the issues of social protection for servicemen.
